C&D Foods in Edgeworthstown is seeking permission to remove a floor at its premises outside the town and replace it with a new first floor and storage area.
The new area would cover 114 square meters.
The planning notice points out the factory already holds an integrated pollution prevention control license and says this application does not affect it.
C & D Foods was founded in the Co Longford town over 50 years ago by the late Albert Reynolds.
It is now owned by Larry Goodman's ABP Food Group and is one of Europe's leading manufactures of private label pet food with annual revenues of €500 million.
