A local pet food manufacturer is seeking permission for a significant development at its Longford site.
C&D Foods located on the Longford Road in Edgeworthstown is one of Europe's largest producers of specially formulated dog and cat foods.
The proposed plans include the construction of an extension consisting of new ground floor production facilities connecting to the existing production area. A new first floor extension is also planned for bringing the total production space to 1,786 square metres. Two standalone flat roofed electrical switch room buildings are also included in plans as is new car parking areas with EV charging and bicycle storage facilities. The company hope to construct a 1.8m high boundary fence along the western site boundary, including gates and enclosures in front of the new extension. It will also include the demolition of single storey soft can building and toilet block.
The company was founded by the late Albert Reynolds whose son Phillip ran the family business until 2019 when he sold his remaining 15pc stake to Larry Goodman.
County planners will decide on the application in April.
