The Chairman of Longford Hospice Homecare says the service in the county badly needs another bed to provide for people who aren't able to remain at home during their illness.
Dan Rooney says the service presently has just one bed to cater for the population of the county and that is located at St Joseph's Care Unit in Longford Town.
He says that since the beginnings of the service in the 80's the main aim has been to provide care for people in their own homes and that has worked out very well.
The Longford Hospice Chairman also says though that with a population of 40,000 the county needs at least one more bed to be made available, with some accommodation for family members as well.
