Technology is causing disengagement among Irish nationals living in the United States.
That is the view of Hilary Beirne, the Founding Chairman of the New York City St Patrick's Day Foundation. The Boyle native found that 85% of young Irish Americans aged between 18 and 35 are not part of any Irish organisation. He explained that the surge of technology has improved connectivity between relatives across the world, and Irish Americans therefore do not feel obliged to get involved in organisations to identify with their roots.
