The chair of a Westmeath charity says that vital staffing funding for Mullingar Hospital should have been approved long ago.
In July of this year, a new MRI scanner was installed at the Regional Hospital Mullingar, at a cost of €1.2 million, all of which was fundraised.
The scanner has not been operational, however, as staff training has not been completed.
With the approval of staffing funding the MRI building is due to be handed over to the hospital by the middle of next month, after which the "Start up and Commissioning Training" will commence.
