People in areas still affected by power outages as a result of Storm Debi are being urged to check in on vulnerable or elderly neighbours. High winds and dozens of fallen trees resulted in close to 15,000 people locally with out power on Monday. Several hundred people in Longford and Roscommon remain without power this evening, with ESB crews set to restore remaining supplies within the next number of hours.
Speaking to Let's Talk today, Longford Councillor Paraic Brady has called for people through out the affected area to insure that elderly neighbours or those with medical or mobility issues are ok. Cllr Brady branded the Storm as one of the worst to hit the region in decades and is urging people to be mindful of the risk of fire from appliances or heating systems that were on when the power went:
