Current school health regulations are causing children to suffer needlessly in cold classrooms according to a local TD.
Roscommon/Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice says parents from across the region are in constant contact with him over the temperatures in classrooms.
Schools are required to leave windows open during the day to aid ventilation and slow the spread of the virus.
According to the Independent TD, children are coming home from school blue in the face from the cold.
Deputy Fitzmaurice is calling on the HSE and the Government to prioritize funding and advice for schools to purchase appropriate air filtration systems.
Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, the Roscommon TD says the same rules should apply in the Daíl.
