Senator Micheál Carrigy told the Seanad children shouldn't have to leave the county to access a school place.

Children with special needs in Longford are in danger of having to take a 120-mile round trip every day to go to school.

Fine Gael senator Micheál Carrigy says it's because there are no places available in special schools in the county.

He says the National Council for Special Education must address the issue immediately.
