Mullooly, from Ballyleague/Lanesboro, is trailing Sinn Fein’s Michelle Gildernew by 1,700 votes in the race for the last seat.

The two rivals are battling it out for the last seat after four days of counting.

The Ballyleague/Lanesboro man leads Sinn Fein’s Michelle Gildernew by over 13,000 votes after 13 counts in Castlebar.

He benefitted from transfers from Castlerea’s John Waters in the race for five seats in the Midlands Northwest constituency.

The fourth resumes at 10 o’clock this morning.

Mullooly believes he is in contention, but it will come down to the wire.

A group called Castlerea Says No has organised a protest for 1pm today, starting from the Lidl store on the Knock Road.
