The head of Roscommon Civil Defence is calling on people to think of the danger of consuming alcohol near waterways.
Their boat was in Tarmonbarry last night when an individual who was part of a larger group of youths threw beer bottles at their craft.
No-one was injured but the Civil Defence volunteers did have to remove six beer bottle from the water as a safety precaution.
The boat was in the area after reports of large groups of youths congregating along by the water's edge on the Longford-Roscommon border in recent days.
It was also reported earlier this week that youths were jumping off the bridge in Ballyleague Lanesboro into the 'wake' left by passing boats.
