A local rural TD believes a new plan to clamp down on energy companies is "a second carbon tax".
The Sunday Business Post reports the government is considering introducing a new renewable heat rule next year, that would require companies to supply their customers with a certain volume of biogas or biomass.
It's suggested the increased costs will be passed on to households, resulting in a possible 10 per cent jump in bills.
