The Department of Communications, Climate Action & Environment has confirmed that there will be a delay to projects seeking large amounts of funding through the Just Transition programme.
An announcement of the first round of the €11 milllion available this year was expected late this month.
The call for proposals for the Just Transition Fund closed on 17th July and the evaluation of these proposals is ongoing.
There has been concerns from some groups, including the Access for All Tourism project in Lanesboro Ballyleague that lock down would result in a delay to the decision process, which they say would have a serious impact on their ability to roll out their project for the 2021 Spring Summer season.
In a statement to Shannonside Northern Sound, the Department of Communications, Climate Action & Environment has confirmed that due to the large volume of funding applications received, the evaluation and notification processes will be phased.
It is expected that the initial group of projects, those seeking up to €100,000 in funding, will be contacted in early September with provisional offers if successful in the evaluation process.
The remaining projects will be contacted in early to mid-October with provisional offers if successful.
The Department says the issuing of final offers and contracts will be dependent on the required evidences being submitted, with up to €11 million will be available in 2020 for successful projects.
