Tributes are being paid to Fine Gael Councillor John Naughten who's died.
The Justice Minister Helen Mc Entee has paid Tribute to Roscommon Fine Gael councillor John Naughten following his death. In a statement the Minister says John's death is utterly devastating for his family, his neighbours and his colleagues.
He was a diligent, astute and very hardworking public representative, who would have had a very positive impact in Dáil Éireann. He was a team player who understood his community and wanted only the very best for it.
John Naughten was the brother of Denis Naughten, a former government minister and was due to stand for Fine Gael in the upcoming general election.
Cllr Naughten has being described as "very committed and a decent, decent person" by Roscommon Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice. The Roscommon Councillor was due to run for Fine Gael in the upcoming general election. Deputy Michael Fitzmaurice says the county is devastated by his passing.
