There has been a total of 28 EV grants provided so far this year in the Shannonside region. The figures were revealed following a parliamentary question from Kerry TD Pa Daly to the Minister for Transport, Darragh O'Brien. The Minister confirmed that the current target under the Climate Action Plan is to have 30% of our private car fleet switched to electric by 2030.
So far this year, 16 EV Grants have been provided in Co. Roscommon whilst there has been 6 provided in both Longford and Leitrim. Last year, 175 EV Grants were provided across the region with 87 of that figure in Co. Roscommon. Minister O'Brien also said that over €100m has been allocated in 2025 to support the continued transition to electric vehicles which includes funding for EV grants. Dublin currently leads the way so far this year with 883 EV grants provided followed by Cork and Kildare.
