Close to 350 goods vehicles were registered in the Shannonside Region in the first 3 months of the year. New figures from the CSO show that 142 of these registrations were for second hand vehicles. Toyota, Ford, Volkswagon and Citroen were the most popular work vehicles in the three counties according to the Central Statistics Office.
Roscommon had the highest level of goods vehicles registered between January and March of 2024 with 160 vans and other vehicles put on the road, with 61 of them second hand vehicles. In Longford, 114 work vehicles were registered, the majority of them new, with 56 previously owned. Leitrim had the lowest amount of goods vehicles registered with a local licensing authority, at 68, less than half of which were used cars or trucks. Nationally, the first three months of 2024 saw 11,282 goods vehicles take to the roads.
