There was close to 50 people recorded as homeless in the Shannonside region last month. According to the latest homelessness report by the Department of Housing, 48 people in the region were accessing emergency accommodation.
Leitrim had the highest amount in the region with 19, Roscommon had 17 in emergency accommodation whilst 12 people were recorded as homeless in Longford. Leitrim Councillor Des Guckian believes the number of people homeless in the region is far higher than what is recorded:
