A Longford school is using the new Deposit Return scheme as a novel way to raise funds for new improvements at the school. Melview National School two kilometres outside of the town are appealing to the Longford business Community and beyond to 'Pitch-In for Melview'. The school is hoping to fundraise enough money to create a safer, more accessible all-weather astro play space.
The school is asking businesses and the community to help them collect bottles and cans that can be used in the Deposit Return Scheme to raise funds. Melview NS has grown in size on a limited site and has very little play space when the weather renders the muddy green areas unplayable according to Principal Bryan Kennedy.
