Coillte has confirmed its carrying out small tree felling works at a popular north Roscommon forest.
Derreen Woods is primarily used for nature and recreation however some areas were planted to produce wood.
Following concerns from locals Coillte say minor felling works of 2.3 Hectares are in operation to allow for the development of additional parking.
The management body says this will enhance access to the site as a recreation facility but is not taking place in the Bluebell part of the forest.
