Garda Commissioner Drew Harris will attend a ceremony at the week where two plaques will be unveiled.

Detective Garda Colm Horkan is being remembered today, one year on from his killing.

The 49-year-old was shot and killed after responding to an incident in Castlerea in Co. Roscommon.

An anniversary mass will take place in Charlestown, Co. Mayo later, while a special ceremony will be held at the weekend in Castlerea.

A man in his 40s is due before the Criminal Courts of Justice next year, charged with his murder.
