Colmcille advanced to the quarter-final of the Longford SFC after a 2-10 to 11 point win over Ratchline.
Comcille take second place in group one and join St Columba’s Mullinalagta in Sunday’s quarter-final draw after a deserved victory, where they showed effectiveness in front of goal.
Barry McKeon’s goal on 23 minutes set the scene for Colmcille victory although Ratchline had made a sharper start. Liam Connertion giving them a third minute lead.
Two minutes Oran Kenny’s weak miss set the scene for Rathcline who missed to many attempted points with Paul and Barry McKeon inching Colmcille ahead on the 12 minute with a point each.
Barry McKeon found the net on 23 minutes after Colmcille ran at the Rathline defence for the first time, the attempt at a blanket defence being undone as McKeon powered past a defender and drove a left footed shot low and home.
The excellent Alan McKeon sent over a 45 a minute later, Rathcline having responded to the goal with an Oran Kenny point.

A Kenny free and points from play by Paul McKeon and Dyan McCabe saw Comcille lead 1-4 to four points at the break.
Paul McKeon picked up were her left off two minutes into the second half converting a mark followed by a Ruairi Harkin point.
Oran Kenny sent over a 38th minute free for Rathcline’s first score of the second half but Colmcille were equal to whatever Ratchline through at them.
Barry McKeon’s point was responded to by Shane Kenny, Alan McKeon’s point saw Kenny respond with another free. A fifth Oran Kenny free made it 1-8 to 0-8 at the second water break, and like so many games, the water breaks made the difference
Moments after the restart (51 minutes) Fergal Sheridan, Cathal McCabe and Paul McKeon had a fast interchange allowing for McKeon to rattle home the games second goal from inside the large rectangle.
Paul McKeon and Rory Hawkins added points to seal the victory, Shane Kenny and Oran Kenny tag back the scoreboard, but it wasn’t near enough.
Colmcille advance to Sunday’s quarter-final draw which will be made live on Sunday Sport.
