An event is taking place in north Leitrim today to mark the 108th anniversary of the execution of Seán MacDiarmada.
The Easter Rising leader, from Kiltyclogher, was killed in Kilmainham jail on May 12th, 1916.
The annual Seán MacDiarmada commemoration starts at 3 o'clock this afternoon (Sunday) with a parade from Straduffy Cross to Kiltyclogher.
Wreaths will be laid at the monument in the village, and there will be a speech by former MEP Martina Anderson.
Drumkeerin councillor Padraig Fallon, from Sinn Féin, believes MacDiarmada's dream of Irish unity will soon be achieved.
