The communities of Tarmon and Castlerea says they're immensely proud of Lisa and Aoife O'Rourke ahead of the Freedom of Roscommon ceremony this evening.
The honour will be given to the sisters and boxing champions at a ceremony at Aras an Chontae in Roscommon town.
Aoife retained her European middleweight title in October while Lisa enjoyed World Championship success in May.
They will follow in the footsteps of former recipients Jim Callery, the late Brian O'Doherty, actor Chris O'Dowd and former President Mary McAleese and her husband, Martin.
Principal at Tarmon National School Kieran Dowd says the community are proud of the sisters and they are fantastic role models for the students at their former school.
"We're very proud of the O'Rourke girls and what they have achieved. They're a great asset to us, the modesty, the humility, and the grace with which they carry their new found fame. The girls haven't changed 1%, they're still the same girls that were here when they were 12 years of age playing football and rugby and soccer. They still call in now and again and join n in the games that are going on in the yard and have a bit of fun with the kids".
Meanwhile Gareth Scahill says Lisa and Aoife are very deserving of the honour and are always so generous with their time.
"They're great role models for all the locals. They're great ambassadors for Castlerea and Roscommon. Both girls are very giving of their time to all the local schools, sports clubs, and any other group that is coming looking for support. They deserve all the recognition and accolades that they get. We're all behind Lisa and Aoife and we're expecting great things from them in the years to come, so well done to the two of them".
