A local commuter says delays and cancellations on the Athlone to Cavan Bus Eireann service is completely unacceptable to people waiting at stops.
Local man Jack criticised the company after the 5:30 pm Route 466 bus was unable to pick up any passengers on Sunday.
In a statement to Shannonside fm news, Bus Eireann confirmed that staffing issues resulted in a local bus service being unable to operate on Sunday.
The company says Bus Éireann very much regrets the inconvenience caused to their customers as a result of these cancellations and delays.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, Jack said people living in rural Ireland find it difficult to plan their journeys when buses are not reliable and there are no alternatives.
'I can understand Bus Eireann but what about sourcing other transport methods like we have no railway here in Cavan. There is only buses so if the buses don't work and if they are not running or there is no driver you can go no where. In rural Ireland where they is no railway you depend on a bus and if they say ok I'm sorry we have done our best and fair play they have held their hands up and acknowledging that they made a boo boo but that doesn't get me anywhere.'
