Several incidents of intimidation, threats and assaults were notified to Irish Rail on both lines.

Complaints on two local rail routes have doubled over the last two years.
Concerns raised over anti social behaviour form part of the 3,400 complaints received by Irish Rail for the Sligo- Dublin Connolly route and the Galway-Dublin Heuston route.
The data was released to Shannonside FM News through the Freedom of Information act and covers a number of complaint areas from anti social behaviour, timetable issues and website faults.

Over 3,450 complaints were received on the two routes in the 12 months of 2024 on the Sligo Connolly Route that serves Boyle, Carrick on Shannon, Dromod and Longford, and the Galway Heuston Route serving Ballinasloe, Roscommon and Athlone.
The majority of anti social behaviour complaints were made on the Sligo Connolly line with over 70 incidents recorded, while less than 50 were notified on the Galway Hueston Route.
Disruptive behaviour was the most common type of complaint by passengers, with smoking, alcohol and drug use also regularly mentioned.
Several incidents of intimidation, threats and assaults were notified to Irish Rail on both lines.
Incidents of theft from passengers, begging and noisy passengers also formed a number of complaints.
The numbers of passenger complaints on both routes has increased significantly over the last two years with 1,600 recorded in 2022 compared to 2024.
