A rapid build modular housing project for refugees in Westmeath is still weeks away from completion according to the Department of Integration.
In a statement to Shannonside Northern Sound News this week, the Department claims that preparatory works for the delivery of the units at the former Colum Barracks in Mullingar are underway.
The 50 modular homes will house up to 200 refugees from the war in Ukraine.
The update comes at a time of crisis for the housing of those fleeing the war or who are part of the general international protection system.
Refugees are to face living in tents again, from as early as next week due to a shortage in accommodation.
