The Department of Psychiatry at Roscommon University Hospital has seen its compliance rating remain at 88 per cent following a recent inspection by a national mental health watchdog.
According to the annual report compiled by the Mental Health Commission, while the majority of the centre's operations were found to be compliant, issues were highlighted in some areas.
The 2022 annual report for the service based at Roscommon University Hospital saw compliance ratings remain at the previous year's figure of 88 percent.
The approved centre has a maximum capacity of 24 residents, this includes 22 beds in the main unit and an additional two beds at the high-dependency facility.
Inspectors acknowledged that the centre had undertaken major refurbishment and ligature reduction works since the last inspection and initiatives were service-user orientated.
The report also details positive feedback from service users, open comments from the resident's' questionnaires praised the quality of care and stated that staff were very helpful. While the department was found to be compliant in the majority of areas concern was raised over deficits in fire safety.
There were four doors on the main corridor which were designated as fire doors. However, none of the four were functional as fire doors.
Three of the doors had window panels which were fitted with single glazed glass, one had a significant gap when the doors were closed, and one did not close by itself when released by the auto closing magnetic device.
A low level non-compliance was recorded in the area of staffing as some members did not receive education and training to enable them to provide care and treatment in accordance with best contemporary practice.
The report also found an intercom speaker system being used in the centre was very loud and disruptive to the residents.
