The head of one of the Shannonside region's busiest domestic violence services has revealed a surge in people looking to access help this week.
Tara Farrell, who is the Chief Executive of Longford women's Link revealed that 27 calls were received by people in crisis situations seeking help this week on a single day.
She believes that due to the prolonged nature of this lockdown, the traditional avenues of support for many people experiencing domestic violence issues have been cut off such as schools or outings with friends.
She told the Joe Finnegan Show that it is a concern that so many supports have been withdrawn due to the pandemic.
