Serious concern is being expressed about the amount of burglaries in Co Roscommon, after a well-known pub was the latest to be targeted. The Castlecoote Lodge was broken into overnight on Monday and Tuesday, and a significant amount of cash was robbed.
It's owned by former Fianna Fáil politician Terry Leyden and his family, who say burglaries are happening too often in rural Ireland. Local councillor Marty McDermott is condemning the incident:
Meanwhile Gardaí are investigating a burglary at a residence in Ardsallagh Beg, Roscommon town yesterday morning. A number of items were reported as stolen and investigations are ongoing.
