The Secretary of the Leitrim GAA County Board is raising serious concern about the ability of some areas around the county to field a club team in the coming years.
Declan Bohan, who's also principal of Bornacoola National School says figures in the Primary School Statistics for the county show that 70% of boys in school are in catchment areas which cover only 9 of the county's GAA clubs.
He says the figures clearly show that while some towns and villages have developed well over recent years, there appears to be a growing trend of movement area from the more rural areas of the county.
Speaking on the Lets Talk show today, the Primary School principal says the issue being highlighted in his report to the Leitrim GAA convention this weekend is more than just a sporting concern.
