A Longford pharmacist says there is no comparison between the new nasal flu vaccine for children and getting a Covid-19 swab test.

Padraig Loughrey was responding to the fact that there has been only a gradual uptake of the new free children's vaccine that was launched last month.

He says there may be some uncertainty out there because it's a new method here in Ireland, but there is no discomfort involved for children compared to having to get an injection.

The former Longford County Councillor is urging parents to bring their children in to their local pharmacy for the new nasal flu vaccine and he says it's completely different to getting a nasal pharyngeal swab:
