Concerns are being raised about the availability of BreastCheck services in Carrick-on-Shannon in the future.
It follows a number of women in the south of the county being referred to Sligo or Roscommon for their appointments in recent weeks.
The issue has been raised by Deputy Claire Kerrane in the Dail in recent days and it was confirmed that women in Leitrim are being invited to attend Sligo for the health check.
A reply from BreastCheck supplied to the Health Minister said the mobile unit was due to move to Carrick-on-Shannon in May of 2020 but delays to finishing the current screening round in Sligo led to the decision being taken to call women from Leitrim there.
The statement said this meant the screening of women from Leitrim could start on schedule while the unit finished the screening of women in Sligo.
Ballinamore woman Mairin Martin says she was surprised to be called to Sligo for her appointment recently, and is concerned the service might not return to Leitrim.
