A Longford Councillor is raising concerns over the increasing number of water bursts on the Ballymahon network.
Mick Cahill claims the frequent disruption over the last year is causing a lot of anxiety for local homes, businesses and farmers.
He's now calling on Irish Water to provide clarity on whether the supply which comes from the carrickboy reservoir will be upgraded.
Speaking at this month's meeting of Ballymahon MD the Fianna Fail representative says the issue needs to be resolved for the relief od users.
''It has caused a lot of disruption. I'd be very concerned and we need an understanding from Irish Water and what the plan is in this regard. There's a school in Ardagh and it's probably one of the higher pipelines and it can affect the school and they wouldn't be sure if they could open and when they wouldn't get clearance if the water was going to be back on are not is anxious.''
