Politicians from across Roscommon have been invited to attend an event at Roscommon Mart next Tuesday evening over concerns about the silage grant.
It follows on from two similar events held in Galway and Mayo over the last fortnight to highlight fears of a possible fodder crisis this winter.
Sean McKeon who's the new Regional Officer with IFA for the region says more clarity is needed about the silage grant announced by the Agriculture Minister in recent weeks.
He says it's important the issue is settled before the peak growing season is missed.
''What we're hearing on the ground from a lot of farmers are they spent the same amount of money on inputs so far like fertiliser, but with the way the costs have gone and increased, they're probably putting out less than half of the amount that they would have put out in years gone by. And there aren't any details as such on the ground yet for this scheme, and people don't know how to apply what they have to jump through. We do know it's 100 euro a hectare of signage cut is that can you cut it twice? We don't know. We don't have the details on it.''
