A local branch of Down Syndrome Ireland is raising fears over the growing possibility of Special Schools not reopening as planned this week.
Members of the Irish National Teachers' Organisation have accused the Minister for Education, Norma Foley, of not addressing teacher's safety fears about the return of special schools on Thursday.
While the Minister says work to ensure students with special needs can return to school is ongoing, with consultations with teaching unions still underway.
Brian Smith from the Leitrim Cavan Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland says that parents are being left in the dark over the resumption of services.
Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show, he says it's the children who suffer over this confusion at the end of the day:
