Construction work is due to begin in the coming weeks on a major project in Ballinamore.
The project will involve the refurbishment of an old school and Ballinamore Railway Station which is set to become the trailhead of the Cavan and Leitrim greenway project.
The project is being carried out by Leitrim Council as part of a community partnership between Ballinamore Development Company and the council.
The Junction Project will cost almost two million euro.
Gerry Darcy who's co-ordinator of the Cavan Leitrim greenway project says they hope to be able to apply for more funding in the coming months to extend the greenway further out form Ballinamore.
He says the work beginning in the meantime on the Junction Project is another very positive boost for the area.
