A consultation process will begin in September over the amalgamation of two schools in North Roscommon.
At a recent board meeting of both Scoil na nAingeal Naofa and St. Joseph's Boys National School in Boyle it was stated the schools would better serve children and parents if they were joined together.
The schools have met with their patron Bishop Kevin Doran and it's believed the educational facilities would amalgamate in 2023.
However in a statement the Diocese of Elphin say before any decision is made consultation will be carried out after the Summer holidays.
