The contract has been awarded for the long awaited renovation of a library in Roscommon.
The project includes the upgrade of Ballaghaderreen Library at the historic Dillon House in the town.
The plan was initially granted funding by the Department of Rural and Community Development, and further financed by the department under the "My Open Library" funding scheme.
The 32-week project will convert the facility into an 'Open Library,' which means that its members will have full access to the library for lending, returning, internet PC and printing every day of the year from 8am to 10pm.
The renovation is the region's first Local Authority energy retrofit project to be funded under the SEAI's Pathfinder Programme.
Works will commence on the 25th of March, while a temporary library at Unit 1B, beside SuperValu in Ballaghaderreen has been opened to cater to the local community.
