Construction is expected to begin early in the new year on a major new development at the TUS campus in Athlone.
It follows the signing of contracts this week for the planned multi-million euro facility which will house the teaching of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects.
The new STEM building will feature an entrance plaza, tiered seating seating, lecture theatres, and office space.
It will also connect with the campus's existing engineering building and new polymer centre of excellence.
The new facility will cater for up to 800 students, and will mean that some other space on the campus is freed up.
It's planned that construction will be finished in early 2025, and it's hoped the building will be fitted out and operational by September of that year.
