State of the art corporate conference centres are in huge demand in the Shannonside Northern Sound region according to a local tourism provider.
Elevate Entertainment in Athlone is currently developing modern conference facilities which will cater for up to 150 people.
The high tech centre provides electric go karting, VR experiences and laser tag among other services at their site in the centre of the town. Company CEO, Colm Wright, says that they can offer as much to corporate business people as they do to kids and tourists visiting the town. Over the last year, a number of high profile companies have taken the decision to set up or expand operations in Athlone.
Speaking to Shannonside FM, Colm says that his current meeting room is booked out constantly by businesses from across the region:
"Corporate is a big element of our business as well and we are starting to build a 150 seater conference room here very, very soon and it'll be state of the art. It'll have the projection screens and all of that sort of stuff with the proper seating, lighting, everything. We are getting a lot of companies coming to us right now and they're using our meeting room but we can only house about 60 people in that. That's a big push for us going forward, that we're able to cater for the corporate sector as well as the birhday parties, the stags and hens, and just you and me going go-karting".
