A rise in the cost of living and a change in consumer habits are being contributed to the closure of a popular West Roscommon food market.
The Ballagh Farm Shop has announced it will cease trading in early August having opened almost two years ago.
Sue McMillan says a rise in the rate of inflation has forced consumers to purchase cheaper products with artisan traders now at risk of having to close their business.
It's the fourth business to shut its doors in Ballaghadereen in recent months and Sue is urging the public to shop local.
''We're going to see a lot more of this. I think Ballaghadereen has been hit hard already. We've lost I know of three we're the fourth that are closing down. And I cannot scream enough over the years of people please shop locally. I walk the streets for my shopping. And it's time consuming and it's a little bit more expensive, but it keeps those guys going. And you know, shop local, keep your money in town, but unfortunately people want to go to the big supermarkets because they're cheaper.''
