An end date is now in sight for major street works in Carrick on Shannon underway for the last 2 years.
The street enhancement works were announced in 2019, with work halted in the town at the start of the year due to the third Covid lockdown.
The project has been criticised by a number of local councillors over multiple delays in the completion of the project that have seen invasive works take place on the main street of the town.
According to Leitrim County Council, the works will finish in the town by the middle of November.
Addressing the concerns of councillors, Director of Services, Vincent Dwyer also stated that the council is as 'disappointed and annoyed' as anyone else over the delays in finishing the project.
Local Councillor Paddy Farrell says many residential streets of the town, such as St. Mary's Close, are suffering a major increase to traffic levels.
According to Councillor Farrell, the delays in the works have been leading to major concerns among local representatives.
