Leitrim County Council says it did not remove painted bicycles with flower arrangements from the streets of Carrick on Shannon and has not asked the Tidy Tows Group to remove them.
The statement comes following concern expressed that the local authority might have asked the local voluntary group to move them, and many people were sad to see the bicycles gone.
Shannonside FM News contacted the council and was told that the local authority works in collaboration with representatives of the Tidy Towns Group to ensure the town is presented in an attractive manner.
It says a meeting the representatives of Tidy Towns was held on last Thursday and a collective approach was agreed to the removal of ad-hoc signage around the town.
The council's statement says the discussion didn't involve the removal of the bicycles with flower arrangements.
