'Council should buy empty and derelict buildings in Ballinamore'

Leitrim County Council is being urged to buy empty and derelict buildings in Ballinamore town, to address the housing crisis.

Local Fianna Fáil councillor Gary Prior wants Ballinamore Municipal District to set up a pilot scheme to identify suitable properties.

He says the local authority could then purchase them, to address the pressing need for housing.

Councillor Prior says there are many disused properties in Ballinamore that are suitable.
