A Longford Councillor has expressed bemusement that the speed limit on one of the busiest stretches of road in the county has increased in recent weeks.
Traffic on the N4 at Newtownforbes can now approach the village at a speed of 80 km/h, rather than the previous limit of 60km/h after a recent speed review.
The issue was raised at this month's meeting of the Longford M.D where a Council engineer claimed that during a public consultation on speed limits, there had been no objections form the public to the increase.
The meeting was also told that it would be five years before the next speed limit review is to take place and the 'horse had bolted' on reducing the limit at the moment.
