A local county councillor says clear communication is crucial when it comes to accommodation for refugees.
Cllr Peggy Nolan said public representatives need to be kept informed on behalf of the local residents they represent.
The Fine Gael councillor said an information vaccuum would only lead to rumour and innuendo.
It comes as Longford Cathaoirleach Colm Murray updated members on plans to accommodate 20 refugees in Ballymahon earlier this week.
