A local councillor is hoping a Boil Water Notice issued to over 4,000 customers in Castlerea is a 'short-term fault.'
Uisce Éireann has issued the notice to protect the health of 4,400 customers who are serviced by Castlerea Public Water Supply.
Recent heavy rainfall has caused increased turbidity, which has impacted the treatment process at the Longford Springs plant.
This means water deriving from the supply may appear cloudy or discoloured.
Drinking water experts are advising customers to boil water before use until further notice.
