A north Longford Councillor is hopeful funding can be provided to finish a number of car parks in Granard to allow more trade take place in the town.
Councillor Turlough McGovern queried at the September meeting of the area's M.D if funds could be made available to buy the old Houricans hotel and convert it to a car park.
Director of services Barbara Heslin responded by telling the meeting that three car parks in the town were currently awaiting funding to be finished and these would be prioritised before the purchase of anew site for another car park.
Councillor Turloughs McGovern was told that any future car park requirements would be considered as part of the regeneration plan for the town
The public consultation on the plan concluded earlier this month and he hopes the plan will provide a boost for the town
