Councillor says locals in 'shock' following discovery of woman's body in Roscommon

A post mortem exam will take place at University Hospital Galway, which will determine the course of the investigation.

An Athlone councillor says locals are 'shocked' following the discovery of a woman's body in South Roscommon.
The body of a woman in her 50s was found on farmlands at Curraghaleen near Athlone yesterday afternoon.

Two cars have been seized and examinations are taking place at the scene, as well as at a home in Athlone.
A post mortem exam will take place at University Hospital Galway, which will determine the course of the investigation.
Speaking to Shannonside FM News, Athlone councillor Aengus O'Rourke says the news comes as a shock to locals, especially at this time of year:
