Councillor welcomes u-turn on refugee accommodation at local barracks

A local councillor has welcomed news that Connolly Barracks in Longford will not be used to house Ukrainian refugees. Cllr Gerry Warnock also called on the Government to pause its current immigration policy due to a lack of accommodation.

The Independent councillor said the economic development of counties like Longford should now be a priority. Speaking to Shannonside News, Cllr Warnock added that Connolly Barracks would play an important part in future development.
