Councillors in Roscommon have approved significant plans to reduce the carbon footprint in the county by 50 per cent in the next 10 years.
3.3 million euro has been approved from the Just Transition programme to energy retro fit 50 houses each year until all housing stock is insulated to highest standard.
The council is providing for 100,000 euro in loan repayments for the replacement of 5,100 public light bulbs in the county to more energy efficient bulbs.
30,000 euro is being provided to villages seeking to develop energy master plans and 20,000 euro is being allocated in match funding for electric vehicle charging points in the county.
Cathaoirleach Laurence Fallon says that it’s only through clear actions that there can be any progress.
